Stefan Lohmer
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
Stefan Lohmer is a co-founder of Axxam, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to the founding of Axxam, Stefan was head of the assay development unit at the Bayer Research Centre in Milan and head of Genomics worldwide for Bayer AG. He was responsible for generating and managing Bayer's external genomic alliances with Millennium and Lion Bioscience. He joined Bayer in 1992. Stefan has a degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from the University of Cologne and did his PhD at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding in Cologne.
Alessandro Sidoli
Chief Executive Officer
Alessandro Sidoli is a co-founder of Axxam and Chief Executive Officer. Alessandro was the founder of the Italian biotech company Primm, one of Italy's successful examples of biotech start-ups, and continues to act as Chairman. He is also Vice-President of Assobiotec, the Italian biotechnology industry association. Alessandro served as Director of the Biotechnology Transfer at the San Raffaele Biomedical Science Park in Milan and previously as head of the Department of Biotechnology at the Istituto Sieroterapico Milanese in Milan. Alessandro received his degree in Biology and conducted research at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology at the Oxford University, United Kingdom. He was later a Research Scientist at Farmitalia Carlo Erba in Milan.
Luigi Gavazzeni
Chief Financial Officer
Luigi Gavazzeni was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Axxam in 2005. Prior to Axxam, Luigi Gavazzeni held Finance Director positions at, most recently, BioXell SpA and before that at Novuspharma SpA. He previously successfully managed several projects for a number of companies in the biopharmaceutical industry. Luigi has extensive experience in project management and a broad knowledge of finance, accounting and tax principles, regulations and controlling. Luigi received his Degree in Engineering from the Polytechnic in Milan and subsequently obtained a certificate for "EU advanced workshop: economics and management in biotechnology companies."
