Axxam is a discovery company focused on pharmaceutical, agrichemical and flavour fields.

We are a privately owned biotech firm based at the San Raffaele Biomedical Science Park in Milan (Italy), with a team of about 60 highly skilled and qualified people. Axxam began operations as an independent and privately-owned company in November 2001, but its’ roots are built upon years of experience as part of the Bayer HealthCare, Research and Development organization.

Our integrated discovery platforms include a wide range of functional screening assays, specific assay development, high-throughput screening (HTS), compound profiling and hits to leads activities. Axxam also provides access to several compound collections, both synthetic and natural.

Axxam pursues a hybrid business model strategy, by combining the internal proprietary programs on high value targets with a fully dedicated service unit, providing discovery services for biotech, pharmaceutical, agrichemical and flavour/food and beverage companies around the world.

The service business model is performed either on fee-for-services basis or through sponsored agreements with other companies, involving a research budget, milestone payments and in certain cases royalties. Furthermore, Axxam is developing a pipeline of drug candidates, often within collaborations with selected partners such as other companies or no-profit organizations, using our worldwide recognized expertise on the most relevant classes of drug targets.

The growing list of our collaborations in the life science industry is recognition of our success as service provider as well as in proprietary discovery programs for pharmaceutical, agrichemical and flavour applications.
